Vera's New Crafts- Woodburnings. Different Types of Wood for Pyrography.

By ReuVera

Being too busy with real life I haven’t done much writings here recently. Also, my old passion for making my crafts, wood burnings (pyrography-look it here!) occupied most of my free time.

I have a friend who was very nice to make wood slices for me. Having enough of “raw material” inspired me for new projects. I had birch slices, maple, berry, apple and bass. I like to experiment different types of material and worked even on unusual stuff.

Out of all the possible types of wood for pyrography bass wood works the best. I found out to my surprise that there are several types of maple wood, they differ by their softness.

Soft maple wood is easy to work on

See all 24 photos

Hard maple wood is a challenge to burn on, and time consuming, but a picture looks great when done

Birch is also hard to burn on, but the final outcome is worth of the labor

Here are some of my burnings on Apple wood. Though hard too, but not too bad to work on.

These pictures on birch wood slices stand apart because of a natural feature. See if you can catch it. Let me know in comments.

Thank you, Pop. I am not even close as talented as you are, being able to combine political seminars with cooking school.
